A new species of Argostemma (Rubiaceae) from Mount Victoria, Myanmar Naturalis
Tanaka, N.; Ohi-Toma, T.; Murata, J..
Argostemma victorianum (Rubiaceae) is described and illustrated as a new species from the Natma Taung (Mt Victoria) National Park, western Myanmar. It is characterized by the combination of solitary or 2-flowered inflorescence with indistinct peduncle, relatively large, white, bell-shaped flowers in comparison with the small size of the plant, and having globose tubers. This species is epiphytic on wet and densely mossy tree trunks at c. 2 500 m altitude on Mt Victoria.

Balsaminaceae in Southeast Asia: systematics, evolution, and pollination biology Naturalis
Ruchisansakun, S..
Balsaminaceae is a diverse plant family characterized by a huge floral morphological diversity. Its classification has changed many times throughout the taxonomic history of the group, owing to the emphasis on particular diagnostic characters. This suggests that patterns of character evolution are labile and do not contain much phylogenetic signal. This appears particularly prevalent among floral characters, suggesting that floral evolution and pollination ecology may be important drivers of diversification in the family. Further complications in taxonomy arise from the fact that one of the two genera of the family, Impatiens, has a very large number of species, and that it is distributed across several continents. This has led to a lack of taxonomic...

Characterization of the genetic structure of mango ginger (Curcuma amada Roxb.) from Myanmar in farm and genebank collection by the neutral and functional genomic markers Electron. J. Biotechnol.
Jatoi,Shakeel Ahmad; Kikuchi,Akira; Ahmad,Dawood; Watanabe,Kazuo N.
A preliminary characterization was undertaken to describe genetic structure of mango ginger (Curcuma amada) acquired from farmers and ex situ genebank in Myanmar using neutral (rice SSR based RAPDs) and functional genomic (P450 based analog) markers. The high polymorphism (> 91%) depicted has displayed existence of genetic variability in the germplasm investigated. Large number of source-specific alleles (neutral-markers = 78, functional-markers = 63) was amplified which revealed that neutral regions of the mango ginger were more variable compared with the functional regions. The major fraction of the molecular variance (neutral-markers = 85%, functional-markers = 93%) was explained within germplasm acquisition sources and this tendency was also...

Herpetospermum operculatum (Schizopeponeae, Cucurbitaceae), a new species from India, Myanmar and China Naturalis
Pradheep, K.; Pandey, A.; Bhatt, K.C.; Nayar, E.R..
A new species of Herpetospermum (Schizopeponeae, Cucurbitaceae) is described from north-eastern India, northern Myanmar and southwest China (Xizang and Yunnan). Herpetospermum operculatum was previously confused with Herpetospermum (= Biswarea) tonglense, but differs primarily in having smooth yellow-striped fruit with operculum at stylar end, ascendent seed arrangement in fruit and prominent probracts and bracts. At least a part of the collections of Herpetospermum tonglense in Myanmar and China represent misidentification of this species.

小規模な教育プロジェクトの大学/NGO の協力:ミャンマーの孤児院のための財政支援や生活を向上させます OAK
SMITH, Marshall; スミス, マーシャル.
Bethel Children’s Home (BCH) is an orphanage, established in 2002 in Myanmar, for orphans, semiorphansfrom underprivileged families, and abandoned children. At the time of initiating this project for BCH, there were 22 children ranging from 5 to 18 years of age living there under the care of house parents. Originally supported by a US aid organization, BCH found it increasingly difficult to operate financially due to the accelerating Myanmar economy driving up the Myanmar currency and commodity prices. Thus, a 5-year project was proposed by the author, in January 2013, to help BCH become financially stable and self-sufficient. The ongoing project entails utilizing the land around BCH for implementing economic activities such as raising milk cows and...
